Cruel Romance ep 1 recap

The first episode starts in the year of 1932 in Zhenjiang.
There is a competition being held. Whoever runs up the tower of poles and get to the very top(grabs the ball) wins.

 First appearance of Joe Chen in the show and she is showing us her athletic skills. She one of the participates climbing the pole tower to win and she does win in the end. You go GIRL! Show that us girls can do stuff like a man.

Joe Chen as Rong Jin Xiu (RJX)

The prize she won is a traditional chinese dessert (something like a cake). RJX won it because she believes if her mother eats it then it will help with her sickness.

Her father believes that women should not go out and should be lady like. Instead of yelling at RJX, he gives her some dessert (type of bread snack). But he does punish her to collect water for her mother, which she would gladly do.

While RJX was out collecting the water, she finds an injured man with a bullet in his chest. The man ask her to get a pocket watch that he hid beside the lake. RJX runs off to get that pocket watch. Her father is a doctor that will help get the bullet out.

PS: RJX recognize that man as her new teacher at school. She wouldn't help a stranger with a bullet(that would be weird), well maybe she would.

Father got the bullet out from the man and tells him a secret way to get out.

The villains! They kept on showing the villain's cane with a skull head. The villains finds find's RJX's home from the trail of blood left by the man.

The group of villains ends up killing everyone in the house and sets it on fire.

 RJX met that injured man again and he tells her to bring the watch to this Shanghai's church(not sure what the name is in english).

Well looky here. Huang Xiao Ming finally makes an appearance in a dashing white suit. Might I say, his posing is really awesome, after he beat down all the guys. However, his arm is bleeding. Red on white suit, well anyone can tell that it's blood.

A lot of action packed into the first episode.

Huang Xiao Ming as Zuo Zhen (ZZ)

RJX goes on the boat to Shanghai and sees people looking for someone. She sees blood on ZZ and felt the need to help him.

She ends up getting kissed to distract that guy in the background from hunting down ZZ.

Someone ends up bumping RJX and she falls overboard.

ZZ saves her. First episode and already see him half naked. Aren't we lucky.
RJX doesn't feel the same way, and is kinda irritated by him.

He looks cool while he is getting off the boat.

ZZ has two assistant, the right guy bumped into RJX and stole her pocket watch for ZZ.

The left guy is the serious assistant.

I have no idea what their names are yet.

Left guy is ZZ master. Right guy is serving him and is a rival against ZZ. ZZ dropped the medicine to save RJX from drowning. The medicine was for his master.

This part is hilarious. The two guys are robbers trying to rob RJX.

The robbers see the necklace that belongs to ZZ. ZZ gave it to RJX when they parted.

Who is scared now? They end up kneeling in front of RJX asking for forgiveness.

She ask the guy to bring her to ZZ's house because she knows he took her pocket watch due to the fact that he was asking to buy it earlier.

RJX arrives at ZZ's house but sees him in the car heading to a formal party. She tells her coach to follow that car.

RJX can't enter because she doesn't have an invite.

 OMG! RJX is getting held by handsome men here and there. First is ZZ and now is Qiao Ren Liang.

He finds a ladder to climb inside.

He changes into a nice suit and gives her a cloak to cover her old fashioned dress.

RJX is in the house. She bumps this lady and the lady tried to get back at her by tripping RJX. Her fall never happen because ZZ was in front of her!

SQUEALING! AHHHHHH!!! need more episodes!
